Tangerine is the UK‘s largest independent private label sugar confectionery manufacturer operating out of seven factories. The business owns a number of its own brands, including the leading marshmallow brand, Princess, the popular Butterkist popcorn brand, the iconic Barratt Sherbet Fountains and Jameson's chocolate confectionery.

Investment rationale
When we saw Tangerine it was a wholly owned subsidiary of Toms Gruppen based in Denmark. We backed an industry leading to team with first rate credentials led by Steven Joseph to buy in to the business to build on the organic opportunities and to use it as a platform to consolidate the sector. Since our investment Tangerine has grown from £40m sales to £160m through the acquisition of first Burtons Confectionery from Burtons and then Monkhill from Cadbury. The integration of these businesses has driven significant growth and Tangerine is well positioned for further expansion.
