GCP realises its investment in John Henry Group, marking the final realisation of GCP Fund III

GCP announces that it has realised its investment in John Henry Group (“JHG”), a specialist provider of Tier 1 telecoms infrastructure services to the UK’s major network operators. This transaction marks the final realisation from GCP Fund III, bringing the Fund’s investment period to a close.

Founded in 1985 by John Henry Senior, JHG was originally a generalist civil engineering business which successfully pivoted in recent years to focus on network upgrades and maintenance, including network maintenance. The company provides specialist Tier 1 Telecommunications Infrastructure Services to the UK’s two major fixed networks and JHG employs 190 direct staff and use sub contactor resources across the UK to deliver Tier 1 infrastructure support. JHG operates out of a main office in Cambridge and through satellite depots across the UK.

GCP partnered with JHG in June 2016, investing alongside Pat Henry, Jim Henry, John Henry Jnr and Steve Henry to support the business through its next stage of growth. Over the course of the partnership, GCP worked closely with management on strategic planning, leadership succession and financial support, helping JHG build a stronger platform for long-term, sustainable growth.

James Blake, Managing Partner, GCP, commented: “We have valued our partnership with the Henry family and the wider JHG team, and are pleased to have supported the business as it has grown into a trusted Tier 1 partner to the UK’s major network operators. We wish the team every success for the future.”

John Farrell, CEO, John Henry Group, commented: “We would like to thank GCP, whose support and partnership since 2016 has played an important role in the development and diversification of the business, enabling our future expansion and success. Their strategic guidance and support through leadership succession has helped us build a stronger, more resilient business.”
