A-Gas
Environmental gas distribution
Background
Our investment partnership with A-Gas began in February 2007. They are an independent global blender, re-packer and distributor of specialist gases to the refrigeration and insulation foam industries. They are focused on environmentally acceptable replacement products for chlorofluorocarbon (CFC / HCFC) gases and liquids.
Our investment was behind a strong management team who had built a global business that dominates its chosen markets with high barriers to entry. Environmental initiatives at a government policy level drove a lot of demand for A-Gas’s core products and services. The deal dynamics gave an opportunity for the next tier of management to participate in the equity of a fast growing business, whilst maintaining the strategic expertise and entrepreneurial flair of the founder, John Rutley
In April 2011 we led on the exit process of A-Gas to a financial buyer in a tertiary buyout and were actively involved in the strategic direction of the business.
