GCP welcomes its 2024 interns through Big City Bright Future

We are delighted to welcome Deqa Mohamed and Zakiyah Begum to the GCP team for the summer of 2024. Through our partnership with Big City Bright Future (BCBF) and IntoUniversity, we aim to give them a sense of who we are as an organisation, what we are looking to achieve as an investor, and the broader role that private equity plays in supporting growing businesses and creating value across the economy.

Both Deqa and Zakiyah join GCP having finished their A-Levels, where the Big City Bright Future programme focuses to provide valuable insight into the working world for ambitious school leavers. BCBF places over 150 young people each year into firms across competitive industries in London, supporting students from outside the city to participate through funded accommodation.

The programme provides key skills to young people aiming to make the jump into careers in highly competitive industries, with a focus on networking, presentation skills, analytical skills, and an understanding of their own career goals. It forms part of IntoUniversity’s wider initiatives aimed at supporting young people into higher education and furthering social mobility.

Ravi Monteiro, Partner at GCP, said: “We’re delighted to welcome Deqa and Zakiyah to GCP. We hope to provide them with a good experience of what it’s like to work in private equity and support them in their preparation for university. For GCP, this is a great opportunity to support the next generation of ambitious school leavers looking to explore their options for the future.”
