GCP signs binding agreement to realise its investment in Flint Global
Growth Capital Partners (“GCP”) is pleased to announce that it has signed a binding agreement to realise its investment in Flint Global, the advisory firm supporting businesses and investors on political, policy, regulatory and competition issues. The transaction, which will be completed by the end of the year, will see Cinven become Flint’s new investment partner.
GCP first invested in Flint Global in 2021, partnering with co-founders Ed Richards and Sir Simon Fraser, alongside the leadership team, to support the firm through a period of rapid growth and international expansion. Over the course of the partnership, Flint has more than doubled its global headcount to over 170 professionals and expanded its presence to seven offices across Europe and Asia, significantly broadening its capabilities to help clients navigate intensifying geopolitical and regulatory complexity.
Working closely with the team, GCP has supported Flint in strengthening its leadership, operational foundations and international footprint, while investing behind new service lines and the development of a globally recognised advisory brand.
Today, Flint operates from London, Brussels, Paris, Berlin, Amsterdam, Hong Kong and Singapore, enabling the firm to advise clients across major political, regulatory and competition regimes worldwide.
The investment partnership with Flint underscores GCP’s continued commitment to the Knowledge Economy and to backing highly specialist, intellectually intensive services businesses that provide critical expertise to global clients. Flint exemplifies this focus, combining deep domain knowledge, analytical rigour and international capability to support organisations facing complex political and regulatory challenges.
Garrett Curran, Managing Partner at GCP, commented:
“During our successful partnership, Flint Global has organically doubled its EBITDA and significantly expanded its international reach. Since our initial investment in 2021, the firm has broadened its service offering, entered new markets across Europe and Asia, and continued to build a highly differentiated brand. It has been a privilege to support Ed, Simon, James and the wider Flint team on this remarkable journey. Flint is exceptionally well positioned for its next phase of growth with Cinven, and we wish them every success.”
Emily Henderson, Investment Director at GCP, added:
“It has been privilege to work alongside the ambitious Flint team during a period of such strong strategic progress. The firm’s ability to combine deep expertise with international scale has created a truly distinctive proposition in a rapidly evolving advisory landscape. We are proud to have supported their growth and look forward to seeing Flint continue to flourish in its next chapter.”
Ed Richards and Sir Simon Fraser, Co-Founders of Flint Global, commented:
“We founded Flint to help clients navigate an increasingly complex political, regulatory and economic environment, and we are deeply proud of what the firm has achieved in its first ten years. We want to thank GCP – our first investor – for their partnership and support throughout this period of substantial growth. Cinven’s investment recognises Flint’s success and will further accelerate the firm’s development under James’ leadership.’’
James Purnell, CEO of Flint Global, added:
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Cinven at this pivotal moment in Flint’s journey. Their backing will enable us to build on our strengths, invest in our people, and offer our services in more markets. Together, we are ideally positioned to provide great service for our clients and even better opportunities for our colleagues. We would also like to thank GCP for their invaluable partnership over the past four years—their support has helped us scale internationally, strengthen our capabilities, and build the foundations for the next phase of our growth.”
