Background

We started our investment partnership with Flydcs in April 2015 and developed a strong relationship with the entrepreneurial, founder-led team. They provide best in class paperless aviation records management and online aircraft transition services, through a proprietary SaaS platform.

Flydocs was a leader in the digitisation of aircraft maintenance and safety records and through the period of our investment proved itself as a disruptive platform to be the first to enable the full digital peer to peer transfer of aircraft lease arrangements.

The fast growth, disruptive business model and increasing market leading position led to an attractive approach from a highly strategic trade buyer in Lufthansa Technik and we worked closely with the founders to enable a successful sale.

Driving Growth

  • International expansion – senior sales hires in USA and AsiaPac
  • Leveraging data to enable a new recurring revenue stream “compliance as a service”
  • Investment in strategic marketing and recruitment of a CMO to significantly enhance the market position of Flydocs, leading to rapid expansion of the airline client base

People & Organisation

  • Doubling of the development and engineering teams in India
  • Recruitment of experienced tech sector Chairman, NXD board advisors (finance and technology), CFO

Systems & Processes

  • Implementation of new finance systems and processes
  • Implementation of professional services automation tools to manage offshore teams
  • Enhanced finance and KPI reporting to enable improved prioritisation and decision making
  • Implementation of enhanced sales process and new CRM approach

Funding for growth

  • Funded the entire investment, providing development capital to support accelerated growth and liquidity to enable the founders to de-risk, through a genuine minority partnership
