James Blake - GCP Managing Partner

James is a founding Partner in GCP.

As joint Managing Partner, James is a member of the Investment Committee and involved in all aspects of the business including origination, portfolio management and investor relations. He played a key role in the investment and realisation of GCP Fund II, leading on Entec, Allen & Heath and Amor which were all successfully exited. Notable deals he led in GCP Fund III include Iglu.com which was sold to LDC, etc. venues which was exited in June 2018 to a US investor, and John Henry Group. James also sits on the Board of Advanced Insulation and GTS Flexible. He was actively involved in the fundraising for GCP Fund IV and sat on the Boards of Arrow Business Communications and DMW, prior the exit of those investments in 2020.

Previously, James worked for 3i investing in lower mid-market buyouts and development capital deals predominately in the South West. He has also worked in various operational roles in small and medium sized businesses including exiting the family run distribution company to trade. Prior to this, he spent five years in the Army serving with The Parachute Regiment.

James has a BSc in Economics and Economic History from University College London and an MBA from Warwick.
